Tree removal & trimming in Lockhart

Plan removal, tree trimming or fallen-tree cleanup using the local checks below. For service scope, start with tree removal, trimming and pruning or storm damage work.

The tree-work field guide

Lockhart changed residential waste service in August 2026 and closed its recycling center in October. Use the current monthly brush and bulky route, and verify contractor waste arrangements instead of relying on an older district chipping schedule.

Use the service agreement now in effect

The city’s Expanded Waste and Recycling Services notice describes a new agreement effective August 1, 2026 for residential customers. It identifies monthly brush and bulky-waste collection with an allowance up to four cubic yards per month.

This is a reason to replace an old brush schedule in your project notes. A document carrying the year 2026 can still describe an arrangement that changed during the year. Ask the provider which route and address schedule apply now.

For a tree-company quote, ask whether the output will be hauled privately or prepared for a confirmed account service. Do not assume that a residential allowance applies to contractor-generated material or that the provider will accept every part of a removal job.

Confirm the current bundle requirements

The current notice describes yard-waste bundles with limbs no longer than four feet, no limb over six inches in diameter and no bundle over 50 pounds. It links the 2026 collection calendar and route information.

Give those current requirements to the company only after confirming the route accepts the proposed material. Ask who prepares the bundles, who arranges any needed collection and who handles excess or rejected items. Larger wood and stump material should remain explicit questions.

If work moves to another date, check the schedule again. A crew completing the cutting does not establish that the collection dependency is finished. Keep the outstanding task and responsible person visible until the material is removed.

Confirm which monthly allowance has already been used at the account before requesting additional material collection.

Do not deliver to the closed recycling center

The city’s September 18 closure notice says the recycling center at 110 North Brazos Street closes effective October 1, 2026. The notice lists a limited set of items still accepted at Public Works, including certain oils, electronics and tires under stated conditions.

That limited acceptance list is not a brush-drop-off invitation. Ask the actual facility or provider about the material before loading a vehicle. Avoid following a saved map pin or an old instruction to the former recycling center.

For mixed storm cleanup, separate wood and branches from damaged building materials and other waste. Identify an accepted destination for each stream rather than treating a single household event as one undifferentiated load.

Define tree work before assigning the waste

Describe the tree, the concern and the intended action. If the decision to remove is still open, ask for an assessment and explanation of alternatives. Check any applicable review with the responsible authority; a brush schedule cannot answer tree-permission questions.

For access, identify gates, shared driveways and surfaces that need protection. Tell the company about known utility concerns before a visit. Keep clear of unstable material and report suspected line involvement through the utility route.

Request a written scope covering cutting, hauling, stump outcome and restoration exclusions. The comparison worksheet helps identify a quote that leaves a major responsibility unanswered.

Review the material plan at handover

Before work begins, agree what a finished property looks like and where retained material may remain. At completion, check each item against the proposal. If a separate disposal booking is outstanding, keep the responsible person and date visible.

Save the scope, city response and invoice. For broader planning, use the shared removal, pruning and storm guides. Nearby cities’ limits are not substitutes for Lockhart’s contractor distinction.
